Original Fine Art
Michael is working on three series of fine art simultaneously. Art inspired by the great Sufi poets Rumi and Hafiz, Brandywine Barn Art - created with objects found in the fields surrounding the Green Barn, and The New Book of Kells series. Archival giclee prints are available for many of the images.
In his Celtic art, Michael Green reimagines the miraculous, illuminated, thousand-year-old manuscript made by monks on the remote island of Iona, off Scotland’s windswept west coast. With deep respect to the creators, Michael time travels forward to draw from both elements of 21st-century technology and the world’s other sacred traditions.
Inspired by the jewel-encrusted treasure bindings of medieval manuscripts, each unique piece in this series is created with pigment ink on canvas. Some of the same earth and mineral pigments used by the monks are used. Then gold leaf, Swarovski crystals, and semi-precious stones are applied.
Each 30 x 30 in. piece is mounted on pine stretchers with a 2.5” wide, 2” deep, black wood floater frame with hardware to hang.
